We are honored to have Les Steckel as our special guest speaker this First Tuesday.
From 2005 to 2016, Les Steckel was the president/CEO of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA), an organization he first got involved with in 1972 as a college football coach.
Les Steckel’s football coaching career spans over 30 years. After spending five years as a college coach at the University of Colorado and the U.S. Naval Academy, Steckel began his NFL career with the San Francisco 49ers in 1978. His experience includes serving as the offensive coordinator for the Tennessee Titans, whom he helped guide to the 2000 Super Bowl, and for the New England Patriots during their 1985 Super Bowl season as well as stints with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the Minnesota Vikings, the Denver Broncos, San Francisco 49ers, Houston Oilers and Buffalo Bills.
A Golden Gloves boxing champion at the University of Kansas, Les graduated from college in 1968 with a triple-major bachelor’s degree in political science, social work and human relations. He then enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and served in Vietnam as an infantry officer. He retired in 1998 as a Colonel after 30 years of service. Among numerous military awards, he received the Navy Commendation Medal.
After working for 44 years, Les is happily retired and as he says, "I highly recommend retirement!" He continues to enjoy his family and sharing his faith wherever he is called.
Don't miss hearing Les this First Tuesday!
